December will be our 2nd year as a literacy organization, inspiring the youth of L.A, INGLEWOOD AND CARSON. Thanks to our fiscal sponsor Challenging Minds for believing in us as we were able to accomplish what we have so far; publishing two books and helping teens get over tough challenges such as decision making, creative thinking and character leadership. And we are excited to be raising funds to get us just one more step closer to our vision and we need you to help us reach a goal of 950 to file for our 501(c)(3) non profit status.

Sponsoring a book tour means so much to the students and since partnering with Legacy Publishing they have the opportunity to live the life as an author! This cause definitely falls along the lines of events and your donation would contribute to the organization of book signings and release parties for these new authors.
Traveling outside of your element is important, which is why our community tours impact our participants and students. The I AM Project community tour travels throughout Los Angles, in selected areas such as Beverly Hills, Downtown, West LA and various other affluent areas to enlighten them on the importance of community. Most of our students have no sense of what a community really is and consider their urban area “hoods” which is something a person puts over their head when they want to conceal something! We are seeking donors to keep this program going so we can open the participant’s eyes to the importance of groupism and not individualism.
Financial Literacy holds the key to financial wealth! Combining money mechanics with the importance of time is a great way to express the value one should hold regarding social groups, resources and personal achievement. This program is based on career choice and with our banking partners, we are dedicated to enlightening our participants about how to make a dollar out of their dream!
The business literacy program is the cornerstone of the organization and prepares the participants for their future. After completing the writer’s workshop and having their book published in the public marketplace, we encourage them; through our sponsor to sign up for a teen bank account so they can also receive royalties via eft deposits every quarter of the year based on the sales of the book they contributed too. Also, they will learn how to plan, identify with their skillset and organize a life plan, which is a replica of a business plan consisting of a mission/vision statement, core values along with short and long term goals so if they ever second guess their purpose they always have a point of reference to turn too!
Our writers workshop will focus on comprehension and writing skills. This program is our flagship feature as it offers the opportunity to contribute an authentic title to a participant as a published author. It’s highlights focus on character building, time management and deadlines, vocabulary improvement and product completion. The I AM Project in association with Legacy Publishing aims to influence its participants by presenting the finished product (book) that they contributed to, which is a plausible accomplishment and we hope to encourage them to continue to achieve, as lifetime members of the I AM Project, more in life as community leaders, innovators, productive citizens and entrepreneurs.
Our writer’s workshop is the flagship benefit to our program and it encourages students to contribute to an anthology that will be published and sold in the public market. But first, the participants create vision boards; learn about social interaction, vocabulary improvement and much more to prepare them for leadership and how to avoid being a statistic in the system.
With good health being a primary factor to enjoying life we encourage the youth, through workshops and speaking engagements how important it is to put the mind and body before the bank account. This program begins in the classroom but ends in the community, contributing and harvesting gardens throughout Los Angels. Our goal is to develop an appreciation for healthy eating and living through yoga, meditation and education on the many elements and dangers surrounding today’s food industries.
Our goal is to establish an urban farming initiative, enhancing and beautifying neighborhoods with urban farms and gardens for community members to enjoy.
Our impact projects consist of creative ways to reach our participants who are stuck in their ways. With many negative elements and role models circulating in music, entertainment and at times in the house or community reaching them can be quite difficult. But with our innovative tactics, the I AM Project brings the real world to their doorstep. Utilizing our community partners, we are able to visit morgues to educate them on the result of crime, ex-gang members who share their stories, feeding the homeless on skid row and even meeting with successful entrepreneurs who were once in their shoes to share their testimony with hopes to encourage them to change.
